What a difference a day makes!
I went in to see Nancy this afternoon and although Adam had already told me that she's a different girl today I was impressed to see the difference. Nancy is "bouncy" and she's smiling big smiles today!
I keep wanting to bring her something - do something for her, spoil her, but there really is nothing she wants or needs - reading is no longer of any interest to her and although I thought of making mini cupcakes I knew that she really doesn't have a sweet tooth and wouldn't be that impressed.
So I asked her while there if there is a meal she'd like me to do for her - because as lovely as the hospice food is, it is not flavors she knows or remembers from anything. I told her I had made her favorite Danish meal the other day, chicken but the major thing about the meal is the cucumber salad that I make with it. Her face lit up and she said "that would be lovely" ...
Well I don't need telling twice so I left, ran to the store got everything for it and hurried home to make the meal for her. Maia and Anna came with me when I took it down at 5.15 this evening and she was just over the moon to see the girls. She is so animated today and gave big hugs to both of them.
I just received an email from her :
Delectable. I had two lots, oh yum.
I couldn't ask for any more - I got to make her dinner again, I made it well enough that she had two portions ... my life is a little better tonight!
Love,
B
